The HIPAA Final Rule was created to
strengthen the privacy and security protections established under the HIPAA of
1996 Act for individual’s health information maintained in electronic health
records and other formats. The HIPAA Final Rule makes changes to HIPAA rules
that are designed to increase flexibility for and decrease burden on the
regulated entities, as well as to harmonize certain requirements with those
under the Department’s Human Subjects Protections regulations.
This course teaches the legal authority for
the Regulatory Action and major provisions. This will also teach the Business Associate of the Final Rule and
issue guidance.
